The steam turbine can be said to resemble a steam windmill.
Pressurised steam is accelerated through a nozzle and then directed
(almost) tangentially **to blades attached to a rotating wheel. Torque
is generated by reacti** forces as steam is redirected by the blades.
There must always be some axial velocity so the redirected flow of
steam can make way for the incoming flow.[/LEFT]
